Ed was born in Newark, New Jersey and grew up in Hoboken, New Jersey. He attended the University of Connecticut, received his dental degree from Tufts University School of Dental Medicine and received his periodontal training at New York University College of Dentistry.

He served two years as a Captain in the United States Army Dental Corps stationed at Fort Hood Texas.

He was clinical assistant professor at The New Jersey College of Medicine and Dentistry (now known as Rutgers University, Rutgers Biomedical and Health Sciences). He is a past president of The New Jersey Society of Periodontists and a current member of the American Dental Association, Middlesex County Dental Society, New Jersey Society of Periodontists and American Academy of Periodontology.

He has a dental practice limited to Periodontics and Implantology in Woodbridge, New Jersey.

On the aviation side, he is a member of the AOPA, EAA and Ye Anciente and Secret Order of Quiet Birdmen. He has over 6,000 hours of flying time since receiving his pilots license in 1970. He holds a commercial license, instrument rating, CFI, CFII, multi-engine and sea plane rating. He flew his Cessna 210 N2160S with his family in the 1980's to the United Kingdom and flew to Australia in 1986 and then flew his plane around the world in 1988. He flew the Atlantic in 1997 stopping in Libson, Bordeaux, Paris and London. His second around the world flight was in 2004 with stops in Peru, Easter Island, Tahiti, Australia, South Africa, Brazil and Trinidad. (

He is married since dental school to Bobbie who is a Real Estate Agent at Re/Max Agency Competitive Edge in Metuchen, New Jersey. He has two children Michael and Marcie and five grandchildren.

He has known Marty, his co-pilot, for over 40 years. This trip will be Eastbound with new islands to be discovered and incredible sunsets yet to be seen.

Marty's Bio:

Marty was born in New York City in 1950 and grew up in New Milford New Jersey. He attended the Newark Collage of Engineering (NJIT), where he received a Bachelor in Electrical Engineering.
After working as an electrical engineer for five years he opened and ran Linden Avionics Inc. for the next 20 years where he met Ed.  Whiling operating the shop, he obtained an instrument and multi engine rating along with a commercial pilots certificate. After leaving aviation for a stint in industry and other positions, he obtained a MBA, an Airline Transport Pilot certificate then an A&P certificate with Inspection authorization and then Flight instructor with instrument.  Along the way, he also obtained a DC-3 type rating.
Now Marty owns Martin Aviation LLC a aircraft consulting company which helps people obtain aircraft and pilot certificates.  Martin Aviation is also a FAA certified repair station.  Separately, a NJ aircraft insurance agency.
Other flying noterietay, Martin has flown Ed’s 210 from Sydney Australia back to NJ, a Piper Cherokee 6, Cessna 205 and 172 to Alaska.  While in Alaska, with the 205, he jumped over the Bearing Sea to Russia for a day.  With the 205 he also went to Greenland, Iceland, Mexico (BaJa), Caribbean, Flew over Cuba to the Cayman Islands.  With another 210 he went almost to the North Pole and plans another attempt.
